About The Ranch

Here on the ranch, we have historic cabins and buildings that have been completely restored.  The property even includes a pinch of today’s technology with internet and tv. Everything you could ever dream of only 16 miles from C-470, within an hour of downtown Denver, approx. 40 min from Red Rocks, and 35 minutes from major grocery stores.  Elevation varies from the highest peak 7800 feet to the lower valley areas around 6500 feet.

Over a 30-year period the ranch was formed through the purchase of larger land parcels all contiguous creating over 15 miles of connected trails. Danny, together with his daughter Hazel and his grandchildren Elaina and Slim, built the ranch. They have had many blessings and opportunities to make it what it is today.

It wouldn’t be what it is without our family. As a family we have a small herd of cattle and Elaina enjoys showing her animals in 4-H. Arising Star Ranch has been a major donor to the 4 H program with donations for quality award belt buckles for all the kids in 4-H Douglas County. Up here on the mountain we spend a lot of time together from checking game cameras, limited hunting, cutting wood, fixing fences, digging out after a snowstorm and spraying summer weeds. That’s where our value lies, in family and stewardship of the land.

It’s in EVERYTHING we do. That’s where the ranch name came from. Arising Stars.

HISTORY OF THE RANCH

Part of the ranch (600) acres was donated in the late 1950’s to Houston Baptist University after the death of the owner. It was held by them as a summer getaway for the college group and administration until 1994 when it was purchased by Danny Wirth.

Then expanded over the years by adding “Starvation Gulch” a 1400 acre add on lying in a valley between Foxton and Strontia Springs Reservoir. “Starvation Gulch” was named after a sheep herder lost his flock due to a harsh winter storm in the valley starving from no food source. There were (3) houses and a barn built on that property that were styled from the 1930’s to 1950 era. When Mr. Wirth acquired the property it was in disarray with windows missing and in need of log replacement and other repairs. Over the years, the homes were modernized with country accents.
